🔬🏔️ Insights and Inspiration: Our Alpine Research Retreat 2026
We just wrapped up a fantastic group seminar retreat in Grainau right next to Zugspitze, where we took the time to dive deeper into diverse PhD projects at the TUM School of Life Sciences and the Bayerische Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft (LfL).
From earthworms to micrometer-scale patches of carbon and nitrogen in soil, from calcium interactions to pore structure shaping carbon cycling, and from biochar to new perspectives on organic nitrogen cycling—it was great to draw connections between all the different projects. Beyond our program, it was wonderful to enjoy card games and inspiring conversations in the evening.
