Biography |
| Ana C.B. Barrios is a Guatemalan biologist and PhD student at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). She holds a BSc in Biology from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala and an MSc in Ecology and Environmental Management from the University of Southeastern Norway. Ana has a background in tropical plant ecology, ecological restoration, and dendroecology, with a focus on seasonally dry tropical forests. Her previous work includes seed germination studies of priority species for restoration in the Motagua Valley (Guatemala), as well as dendroecological research on Cedrela salvadorensis and Swietenia humilis. At TUM, she investigates mechanisms of cambial growth under drought, focusing on cell division and elongation. Her research combines controlled experiments in young and mature trees with physiological measurements to understand tree water relations and growth responses under water limitation. |
