We have 2 new exiting and interdisciplinary PhD student positions available for 3 years in the Plant Ecophysiology group at LSAI.
1. fungi, microbial ecology, and tree roots
2. tree ecophysiology and stand processes
as part of an upcoming project to elucidate local site factors and interactions for forest regeneration concepts in climate change.
We utilize a large-scale experiment of > 100000 young trees and an interdisciplinary suite of methods, e.g. drone-based thermal Imaging, ecophysiogical measurements, stable isotopes, and NGS sequencing.

We are looking for volunteers to help organising the 53rd annual meeting of the German Ecological Society (https://gfoe-conference.de). This meeting will take place in Freising between the 9th to the 13th of September and is entitled ‘The future of sustainable land use across ecosystems, landscapes and biomes’. Volunteers will work for 15h in total, and gain access to the conference free of charge.
Position description:
The volunteer position will consist of 15 hours spread over the duration of the conference (Friday 6th to Friday 13th). Position duties will include, but are not limited to: helping with the set up and dismantling of the rooms; providing directions and general help of conference attendees; helping with registration and running of sessions such as the discussions after presentations.
Who are we looking for:
We are looking for BSc, MSc and PhD students who are fluent in English.
