Following equipment is only available in 4 of 8 climate cabinets:
Plant-container-system (Lysimeter) with soil compartement temperature control, soil-matrix-potential sensor and tube-connectors for irrigation
or
Flood-watering-system with plant tables
Following features are only realized once for all 8 cabinets:
Central management computer incl. software and database system for process control and experiment data documentation
User-defined parameters light, temperature, humidity, gases, etc. can be set at the belonging Touch-Panel in front of every cabinet directly as well as via the central management computer.
In all cabinets a simulation of day runs is possible. All parameters can be controlled individually.
An editor allows the programming of setpoint curves of the specifically available parameters for each cabinet:
Cabinet room temperature (4-40°C)
Cabinet room humidity (30-90% rel. humidity)
CO2 concentration (Ambient air - 3000ppm)
CO2 Isotope fumigation (0 -20 ml/min)
CO2 Isotope time span of fumigation (0 - 60 min)
Ozone concentration (0-200ppb)

Light 490nm (0-100%)
Light 530nm (0-100%)
Light 630nm (0-100%)

Cabinet 1 - 4 Lysimeter irrigation 1 (0 - 5kg)
or
Cabinet 5 - 8 Time control Flood-watering-system (0-60 min)
Temperature
- Temperature range: +4 to 30°C without illumination, +10 to 30°C with illumination
- Temperature constancy: +/- 1K in steady state, temporal and spatial
Humidity
- Temperature range: +10°C to +30°C
- Relative humidity: 30% to 90% without lighting, 30% to 75% with lighting
- Humidity constancy: +/- 10% in steady state, temporally and spatially
- Dew point range: +5°C to +28°C
It is possible to raise the temperature range up to 40°C in exceptional cases, however, compliance with the humidity parameters is not taken into account.
Light
The photon flux density (PPFD) must be at least 800µmol/m²s at a distance of 1000mm from the LED light source over the entire inner surface of the chamber.
As a further boundary condition, the air velocity must be kept as low as possible < 0.25m/s even at high air exchange rates (e.g. approx. 8,000m³/h possible in recirculation mode).
Dimensions

All aggregates and supply lines necessary for each climatic chamber, such as steam humidification, control cabinet for general power supply, emergency power supply, brine mixing station, surge irrigation tank for the ebb/flood plant tables or lysimeter (fertilizer tank), ozone analyzer, control parameters, are installed directly on the outside of the chamber or in the chamber interspace.
The clear interior space W/D/H 2400/3200/2200mm of the chambers is kept free of technical installations and is thus available as an experimental space.

For mass flow analyses a labeling of the air space with subsequent online analysis of stable isotopes (12/13C, 14/15N, 16/18O, H/D) can be used.
Regarding the process parameter CO2 concentration at the inflow point into the chamber, 0 - 2000ppm with a constancy +/- 20ppm is expected.
With respect to the process parameter O3 concentration at the inlet to the chamber, 0 - 200ppb with a constancy +/- 10ppb or better is expected.
A central deionized water supply is available for all relevant consumers.

Thermally insulated lysimeter vessels (72x ø 400mm, 36x ø 700mm) can be used as plant containers. Here, temperature control of the root zone is enabled via a heat exchanger (brine inlet temperature 0°C - 20°C).
The lysimeters are positioned on 36x heavy-duty platforms with precision load cells (designed for ø 700mm) and equipped with an irrigation device, 1x tensiometer and 4x PT1000 temperature sensors per lysimeter location.
